Unitree Robotics delivered a live, fully autonomous humanoid cluster martial arts routine at China Media Group's 2026 Spring Gala, proving sustained synchronized high-speed locomotion and complex aerial maneuvers under stage conditions. The demonstration recorded a peak cluster translation speed of 4 m/s and an aerial flip that exceeded 3 meters, including an Airflare spin measured at 7.5 rotations.
Onboard systems combined high-frequency proprioceptive sensing with 3D LiDAR in an AI-driven fusion stack to preserve pose estimates during aggressive maneuvers. Engineers reported environmental data processing at hundreds of cycles per second, which constrained drift and maintained subframe localization accuracy through launched flips and rapid formation changes. The control layer used fine-tuned, pre-trained general control models to correct cumulative motion error across long action sequences, enabling uniform timing across dozens of units.
Cluster orchestration relied on an upgraded high-concurrency control fabric that prioritized ultra-low latency synchronization and deterministic command delivery. Robots used newly developed dexterous end-effectors to switch grips rapidly and secure martial-arts props during aerial and ground transitions. The show featured both bipedal models, including the staged H2 performer, and quadrupedal support units, illustrating mixed-formation choreography and inter-robot task handoffs.
From a systems perspective, the live run validated integrated solutions for explosive power output, agile balance control, and multi-agent trajectory planning in public environments. The demonstration reduces technical risk for deployment in entertainment, inspection, and coordinated logistics where synchronized multi-robot timing is critical. Unitree also framed the sequence as cultural integration, using theatrical roles to test perception, human–robot interaction, and scripted handoffs under audience presence.
